Acampora Nico
Nico Acampora is an Italian educator, social entrepreneur and founder, best known for the project PizzAut, an initiative for the work inclusion of autistic people that has received numerous national recognitions.
Origins and education:
Born in Naples in 1971, Acampora moved at a young age to Cernusco sul Naviglio (Milan), where he lived and developed his career in the social sector. After socio-pedagogical studies, he worked as a professional educator and social project designer, collaborating with disability services, public administrations, schools and Third Sector organizations.
Personal turning point and the PizzAut project:
In 2010, the diagnosis of autism for his son Leo changed his perspective. From this experience came the idea of creating job opportunities and independence for people on the autism spectrum. In 2017 Acampora founded PizzAut (with the motto “we feed inclusion”), initially as an association and later as a pizzeria. It is a pizzeria and restaurant chain largely run by autistic people, where young workers are trained in kitchen, service and hospitality roles, becoming active participants in the world of work.
Impact and visibility:
His activity has generated strong media and social attention: PizzAut has been featured in television programs, public events and awareness initiatives on the rights of people with disabilities. In 2026 Acampora and some members of PizzAut served as torchbearers for the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, symbolizing inclusion in major sporting events.
